About 4 months ago the sunroof shade came off its tracks and caused all kinds of grinding noises and such. I took it into the dealarship and he acknowldeged that it was a recurring problem with my model, but has since been fixed. Last week it happened again and am due to have it fixed next Tuesday.
Is this still a recurring problem for the 3 series?

Until the clips are not made of plastic, yes.

The thing I have heard to save them is to keep the shade part of the sunroof closed when you open/vent the glass. Don't open the glass with the shade pulled back.

This just happened to me today. But not bad after 5 years of driving. I always keep my visor closed so maybe that's why it hasn't happened till now.

Any ideas on what the cost is to fix it? I'm hoping it'll be covered under my warranty.

It is covered under warranty. It was fixed twice on my '01.
