Pixel repair for Temperature and fan display ?

Does anyone know of any good mechanic in North Carolina area who can fix the pixel display of my 330I ? The temperature digits and the fan dots don't appear anymore.

I'm guessing that mechanics would just replace the whole unit. I'd be inclined to open it up and see if anything is loose in there... but then again I like to take things apart. It looks like a tool would make it easy to remove (http://www.openbmw.org/downloads/64%2011%20749%20-%20RA%20%20Removing%20and%20installing%20heater%20 controls%20(automatic%20air%20conditioning).pdf), but you may be able to get to it by taking out the radio or sunglass box first - see openbmw.org (http://www.openbmw.org/downloads/). Otherwise, it might be cheaper to get a used one from a junkyard.
