Diagnostic cable

I was wondering if any of you does have a diagnostic cable to read out the machine codes. If anyone knows Carsoft, it is the same principle. I have a software with the right communicationprotocol. But only I need to make a cable from my laptops COM1 to the OBD of my E46. Can somebody help me, to find or make this cable.
