How to remove windshield wiper arms

I have an E46 328i and I purchased a new plastic seal for the base of the windshield because the old one was cracked. I cannot remove the wiper arms. Any advise? Thanks, Steve.

pop out the plastic seal, then use a socket wrench to remove the nut , hold the wiper arm and swivel it left to right going upward and it should pop out. i take off my whole wipers off during summer.
