Anyone tried the supercharger kit for the 330i from Aatuning (www.aatuning.com)?
Any thoughts about that one?

I've seen the AA one in action. i love AA. i saw one installed on a E36 M3 and holy shit did that thing run. i have the SSK from AA and love it, in fact, i like it better than the UUC kit that a lot of people from this site have. they have their HQ in Florida, you can always take a run down there to check them out, they are awesome. also, they'll spend a good amount of time on the phone with you talkinga bout the system (but so will ESS so i hear). and turn around might be quicker since they're in Florida and not overseas, but who knows....
also they have an intercooler or something like that that the ESS system doesn't have.
anyway, personally i like AA and their products a lot. they are not very popular with the people on this site, but i strongly support them.

Do they do installations as well?
That'd be handy to just get it all done at once.

i don't know for a fact, BUT i'm just sure that they would (of course they'd charge you some good money for it too...).
if u'r willing to pay it, it would be nice, they'd probably give you some pre/post dyno numbers which are always fun to look at. give them a call.

I'm sure anyone I get to install it will charge me some good money.
Still it'd be nice to get someone to install it who'd done a few before.

They do installs and it's their product - so as far as I see it can't get any better.
Everybody i spoke with says "I only heard good things about AA"
I do not have ant customer experience with AA so I can't speak. They just seem serious so far.

They answered my email and Active Autowerke does install. They have a flat rate of 12 hours of labor. I don't yet know the amount they charge for labor, though.
Car is 11 days away! White 330cic w/6 speed, sport, rear park distance, heated seats, rear airbags.

OK, here's the word from AAtuning:
Sweet, the installation takes 2-3 days max, pending on the work load we have on the service side. AA usually asks for a deposit to start on the kit, once the kit is ready for installation, we set a bay for your car to come in and immediately work on it.
AA performance hourly rate is $80/hour.

Reynaldo Tong
Active Autowerke
Miami, FL
Let's see $80X12hrs=$960 for the install.
I hope to God that guy's not calling me "Sweet". If any of you guys call me that I'll have to hurt you.

Not much I can say about those rear air bags. They were on the list of options. I don't know how long they've been an option, perhaps they recently added them.

What happens if you need warranty work after installing a supercharger? Also, can the drive train of the 330i handle it?

You void your remaining warranty when you supercharge the car. That's a lot to give up, especially with a new car.
I would guess you'd void the warranty on the engine, transmission, clutch, rear end, etc., any component that BMW can say failed because it was exposed to the extra power or any component they can say was altered, moved, or affected by the installation.
The engine and drive line should handle the extra power. As I understand it, the clutch is also sufficient to handle the extra power.
Longevity of the engine and drive line components may be affected although people say it is maintenance that determines the engine life. :eek2:

I usually don't come to this board much, mostly on E46Fanatics and Bimmervibe. However, I have an AA supercharged '01 330i Steptronic that was installed back in July.
Here's pics of my install that they took:

Good luck :)

Nice, thanks for the link to the pictures. Did AA do the installation?
It looks as if the intercooler overlies a large part of the radiator/fan. Did you see any problems with engine temp during the summer?

No problem, always glad to help :)
Yes, AA did the install. I am from Atlanta, so I decided to drive down over one weekend, fly back on Monday and then AA enclosed trailored it back one week later. So install took exactly one week, as Rey said.
Nope, haven't had any temp or other problems. I drove to MD/NY/CT for Bimmerfest East '03 this past Aug 31st. Took 2nd there in Performance/Asthetics category :D So driving 2200 continues miles all up/down the east coast proved no problems at all.
I highly recommend the AA install/supercharger. I have more plans for engine work over the Winter (ie. headers/upgraded diff).
Anything else, just let me know.
Thanks..

Hi Guys,
Just signed in today as a member. If you need info about German tuners i'm pleased to help.
After doing some extensive research myself concerning superchargers my choice fell on the ASA company from Germany. Almost all tuners use this kit, comes with intercooler. As they produce a lot of SC for BMW's they are most trustworthy.
My 330i Brings measured 315BHP at the moment, still looking to get some more punch... ANY suggestions??
Some SC-tuners in Germany.. www.g-power.de
www.as-setups.com (here I did Mine, payed 7500 Euro incl. 2 year warranty and installation)
www.mk-motorsport.de
DO NOT get the AC-Schnitzer one... 2 expensive, no intercooler, only 295 BHP and Max power at 6700 RPM..
About the drivetrain... I guess the drivetrain is the same as the 330 diesel so it schould be able to cope with the torque no problem.....
And engine life is reduced a lot more by revving it than boosting..
Drive safely
Erik

If I were in the US i would buy a kit from the US.
ECU shipment to norway is a pain. Too much down time.
I am in Australia and bought the ESS kit. Is a nice mod and quite easy to install. But what is the point of a short install time if the car is off the road for weeks.
I sent the ECU to norway 29th Dec 2004, still isn't back.
Australia is a large land mass, not having a car here is crippling.

To be fair to ESS, the kit is good but delays have been so frustrating. They have also been very helpful even when I have been very angry.
Also there are not many options in Australia so i guess any option is better than none.
Leaving the car stock was most likely the best option for me.
ECU was in norway for some time.

Worth the wait,
Smooth, quiet, powerful.
Driving the finished car makes the wait worth while.
