First of all let me start by saying thanks for the site it has helped me a lot on knowing how my bmw works I just recently bought mine about a month ago is a 2001 330xi with an ess supercharger I bought it like that from a dealer , well my problem is that recently I've been having trouble with it.

First when I was changing the spark plugs last weekend I found that where the spark plug for piston #5 was soaked in oil so that tells me that I need to change the valve colver gasket wich is no problem my extended warranty company will pay for it but now I got a bigger problem today I went for a drive and I punched it a couple of times to show a friend how it drives and handles , well as I was coming back to my place the car started stuttering like if I had water on the gas or one of the pistons wasnt firing well I started to take apart all the hoses of the supercharger and I find a poddle of oil on inside the big hoses before and after the supercharger looks like is comming out of the supercharger and coming back thru that valve that regulates boost (thats what I think it is) but anyways u know what Im talking about , so at this point Im freaking out cuz I dont know if the warranty company would pay in the case I would have to replace the supercharger, what do u suggest is there a problem with the supercharger of what the hell is it cuz I dont think there is suposed to be oil inside the hoses, any help would be apreciated .

Little Oil inside the intake hoses is normal. It's coming form the oil breather hose. If you have too much oil in the intake hoses I would think it's because you might have a vacuum leak.

Yes, oil inside the intake tube near the supercharger is common. It does come from the oil breather.

As for the spark plug, where was the oil, on the tip or the threads?

there is no oil going into the chamber thru the spark plugs its just at the top where the tube with the conector for the plug goes, that hole,, it was filled almost up to the top I couldnt even see the spark plug but I know is not leaking into the piston cuz otherwise black smoke will be coming out of the exhaust, about the supercharger wich one is the oil breather hose cuz I have no Idea when I bought the car It didn come with the instructions of the supercharger , as a matter of fack does anybody out there has the installation intructions for the supercharger on some kind of media format that can send it to me? or if u have it in paperr I will pay for u to make a copy , so iif anybody is interrested just let me know, also what about my car stuttering could it been maybe the excess of oil leak from the breather that it was going into the intake or what do u guys think, suggestions of thing I should do? thanks everybody

I just can't undrestand how can you have oil on the top of the spark plug? And it's fulled up all the way to the coil. Where could the oil get there from? Only from the cylinder.

About the instructions, go to the main page click on the garage section and then click on the ess supercharger. You will see all the details about it there that you won't find anywhere else.

I beleive the oil is leaking in there because I have a bad valve cover gasket , thats what I think and the engine is not acting weird so is not afecting anything else , right now Im just waiting till I can take to the bmw dealer.

Someone scanned in the original ESS installation instructions (complete with oil stains :) )... I have to find them on the net again, or I can email my saved copy of them if you want.
