E46 Car Alarm

I live and work in Germany for the U.S. military and I purchased my U.S. specs car and alarm in Germany. I installed the alarm myself and went to a German dealership to have the alarm activated. They showed me that the alarm works by opening the hood and setting the alarm. After about a minute, the alarm went off. However, the alarm does not go off if I shake the car or if I put my hand through the window (window down) after setting the alarm. Is the car not that sensitive or am I missing something? Is it something to do with the programming? The dealership told me in their best english that the alarm will not go off unless all windows are closed due to the infared sensors. My garage also can accommodate two cars by raising and lowering for two levels. The alarm does not go off when my garage tilts the car for the second level. How far does it have to tilt before it goes off? I appreciate any help or information since I was not given a manual for the alarm.

:) I was going to suggest the same thing - smart move Todd. We don't really want that much detail on the net do we now? It defeats the purpose. It'd be like posting yoru exact address and the exact dates and times when you are not at home.
