The piece around the side windows?
no, The line that goes on the doors and bumpers all around the car.
Like the one that you can have in the body color

I don't understand, do you have a picture of what you are looking for?
The only metal trim on the car goes above the windows.
And on a 325i its black.
ok, the side trim on the car and on the bumpers is usually just a black plastic.
You can order it in the body color if you want but in europe you can get it as a chrome kit.
its just the black plastic (like a thin long trim) that sit on the doors and continue to the bumpers.
Its not something that comes as a standard.
Its hard even to get a picture, sorry but there is a web site of this guy check out the trim on his car its 330ci but im sure if they have for the ci they have it for the I (I emailed him he never replied)

I think the chrome trim looks ugly. I like the body color trim much better

This link has a better view of the chrome trim. http://www.bmw-330ci.com/images/pictures/doubleflat/doubleflat-Pages/Image11.html
I personally do not like it at all. Just looks weird. I haven't seen a single car with the chrome trim around here....

That is the protective body molding.
To get in in chrome would be dumb, everytime someone presses their door into your chrome molding, it would dent.
I like it painted in body color.

I remember seeing a place that sold the color-matched trim ready to install, but it was BUCKS...
I think most people have it painted themselves...

You might also look for some fender trim to match that chrome molding ;-)
