I just bought a set of APC Plasma Super White 9006 foglight replacement bulbs for my 330i sport. I just noticed that they are rated at 80 watts. Is the extra heat that is going to be generated by these bulbs anything to worry about? I would rather not melt my fog light housing. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also curious if anyone has any suggestions about what type of bulb (size and brand) to use for my high beams so that they match my Xenons.

Sorry if I'm asking questions that have already been answered. I did a quick search and didn't find anything, but I could have missed it.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave

By the way.....This is the best 3-Series (E-46) site on the web!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

Dave,

I wouldn't use higher rated bulbs. But it should work. I am sure many people have done it. I think, if there is an overload you would get an error light on your dashboard. You might be fine now, but in a long run you might have housing or wiring problems. What are your original bulbs rated at?

Thanks for the reply!

Stock bulbs are the typical Sylvania 55 Watt.

I've had the 80 Watts in for a few days now and haven't noticed any problems (YET).

They look great but I'm still not confident with them.

Dave

For high beam bulbs go to StreetEffectz.com & ask for Craig

The bulb u need is a Lumiko H7 12V 55W and he stocks them off the shelf. You could also get some 55W Fogs there too if you were worried about the 80Watters.

I have a question for you, do yo have the fog lights that Todd (the site's founder) has or the newer kind? I have the newer kind (or maybe it's the Sports package kind) - with all the mock aluminium grills etc. If u have this newer type - how did u get to the bulbs? I couldn't work out how to get to the back of the housing to remove the bulb. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

Thanks for the tips guys.

In answer to your question Dikirok.......I'm afraid I'll have to plead ignorance. I have a 330i Sport Pkg. not the 330Ci so my front should be completely different from yours.

I did however find this for you on the E46fanatics site. I'm not sure but I think this should be the same for your car.

That's it!! Cool - thanks. I really appreciate you finding that. Pity the sun has already gone down - otherwise I'd be out there now!!

I put the Xenon look alike Lumikos in the driving/high beam lights and they lokk pretty good. I rarely use them though, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Fogs look like since I have them on all the time.

Thanks again

Dirtied the clean jeans and got a bit wet, but the job's a good one!

Bulbs are resplendant in their new home and shining brighter than my wife's D cups.

Thanks again

Wow! That's pretty bright. That should get people to stare at your car.

Enjoy.
