Hey folks. Here's a bonehead question for you. How do I test the alarm to make sure it works? I installed the alarm the other day, had it activiated at the dealer, but don't know for sure that it works. Once I installed it, the car beeped once when locking the car, and twice when unlocking it, but I knew it needed to be activated anyway, so I had that done.

I have locked the car with the windows down, then stuck my arm inthe window and waved it around wildly, even directly in front of the motion sensor in the roof, and nothing happened.

I tried to unlock the door by pulling the inside door release, but the car wouldn't unlock that way and I couldn't open the door. I don't particularly feel like jacking the car up, I figure there must be another way to make it go off.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You should wait 30+ secs for the motion sensor to arm before trying to set it off.

Also, for the longest time, mine just wouldn't detect anything, then I realized that I still needed BMW to tell the alarm system that the motion and tilt sensors were installed.

Thanks. I have a feeling they didn't set up the motion and tilt sensors on mine either. Amazingly boneheaded of them in my opinion. To be honest, I haven't been too impressed with Chapman yet. They've ordered wrong parts for me already, and tinted my windows with too light a tint in the back, and I now have to take it back to them to have them redone. Of course, they'll probably give me a Stratus for a loaner again. What a piece of crap. Sometimes I think Uncle Sam shouldn't have bailed Chrysler out years ago. One less blight on the landscape. Thanks for the info.

I also wanted to hear what my alarm sounded like so I know when it was my car being tampered with, but couldn't figure the alarm out when I first got the car as well.

I left all the windows open, armed the alarm and then push my hand thru the window infront of the motion sensor ... and nothing. I basically climbed into the car thru the window and still nothing!!!

I was going to take the car back because I thought it was broken, but then read the manual and it said to wait 30 seconds for the alaram to arm itself.

And then the test worked.
