I'm getting ready to order my new 330xi and have been concerned about the performance because of the extra weight, etc. If you had , let's say, an extra $1000 to spend what mods would you install that would not affect the factory warranty? Chip, air filter, plugs? Please list them out and the anticipated HP gain. Thanks!!

Check the dinan website. All their stuff doesn't void the warranty (that's one reason why it's so damn expensive).
Dinan CAI ($600) + Stage 2 Dinan software (:
11bhp & 9ft/lbs @ 6500 rpms
Dinan Exhaust (): 5bhp & 4 ft/lbs @ 6500rpms
Dinan Throttle Body (): 6bhp & f ft/lbs @ 6500rpms
These are only peak hp and tq. gains of a 2001 330i. If you look at the power curves, these Dinan bolt-ons up the power curves significantly, increasing pwer throughout the rpm range.
Also, notice how all of Dinan's mods peak at the same rpm, and I'm pretty sure that's the same of pretty close to the peak hp of the 330i. Dinan is really good, but expensive.
my330 has already passed the warranty, so I'm not really concerned with mods that void warranties. I'm getting the Conforti intake, cause it shows better gains. Even the GruppeM intake shows more gains than the Dinan CAI.
Quesion Marvel: If I get the Shark Chip, will I have problems if install Dinan's automatic transmission software? And what do you feel about Conforti?

Your 330i is out of warranty? It was -- at earliest -- bought in the fall of 2000, so that would be at most 2 1/2 years old. The warranty is 3 or 4 years, right? Or am I missing something, like you've already voided the warranty /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif?
I'm just jealous because I've got almost 4 years left before I can add anything...

I think they started the 4 year warranty for the 2002's or 2003's.

Not true. I have a '99 328i and it has a four year/50,000 mile warrantee, which is going to expire next month /forums/images/smiles/icon_frown.gif . The four year free service plan started with the 2003 cars.

oh right, don't know then. I only had a 2 year warranty, and free service plan.
antret: no problem. There are more dealers on the Dinan site.
