I was wondering what the part number was for the back-up light for the 2003? I always wanted the extra red light when you turn your lights on, but i heard it was only European style. I took that piece off, and right where you put the bulb is sealed and the harness only has 2 wires in it (for the backing up light). Now can we get that back piece (European style) from the dealer? and if we did, do we need to run an extra wire?

I think you mean the rear fog lamp assembly?

Yep. The new 2003 has them operational. Can we do that? Where have you been Todd?

Himiles, You mean the red light that is just below your reverse lights? These are not functional. The 2003 models have it actually working? I haven't seen how does it look. I bet it looks nice.

Darius, I've seen a guy with a 328i who had them working. I e-mailed him, but never got a reply. It is doable if we replace that back part . I know it's European option (it does have a pwerful red fog light--pretty effective. I don't know why they wouldn't at least give you this option in the States?)

This fog light, Can you turn it off separately from your main lights or does it always comes on with the main lights? I will also look into it. See if I get any info. I will let you know.

I am pretty sure that in Europe they have it connected with the front fog light switch on the left side of the steering wheel. But the guy that had his working had them operational with the regular light switch

We have the rear fog light on our cars over here. It's only on the drivers side of the car and is operated by a separate switch independently of the front fogs. I tend not to use it much, unless it is foggy or raining hard with lots of road spray, unlike the front fogs/driving lights. It reminds me too much of the dumb Hyundai drivers who think they are cool with their front fogs on, but don't realise they're rear fog is also on (switched together), very annoying when the visibility is OK.

Well the way I saw them, they were hooked up with a regular bulb and not the powerful fog back light. It looks sweet. I agree that the back fog light are annoying in good weather condition..it's like having high beams on only with red color and backwards /forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Hi to all. Ok in South Africa we have the rear foglights working. We again do not have the chirping alarm when activated or de-activated. And you have very nice goodies over there--damm I wish for an UUC exhaust !.
The rear fog light works from a different switch next to the front switch. This can only be switched on when the parking lights or head lights are on and only if the front fogs switched on. In my 2001 330I i extended the cable from the left rear fof to the right rear fog (empty and modified it so it can take a bulb) With my new 2003 330i this is not possible due to a new varable brakelight intensity (the harder you brake --the more light it emits) andthis might cause problems with the control circuits. The bulbs all stay the same as the normal lights 21W and only the reflector is better giving the bright light.
