Cigarette Lighter [Archive]

Every time I try to use the lighter, the fuse (#47,15A) gets zapped. I took the whole lighter setup and cleaned it inside out and reinstalled...same thing happened.
Any thoughts on how to find the cause? Thanks

Did you try plugging in something without a load. For example a cell phone charger without plugging in the cell phone. Would that still blow up your fuse?

Darius, I will try that. Can you check for me if your cigarette lighter fuse is 15A or 20A?
Also, did you say you changed the vacuum line or was it apar328i? I need the part # that they've changed (Whistle noise + stalling in the morning). Thanks

My is 15A. I have changed the PCV valve.

Does the lighter get hot in the center? If it doesn't, then the body of the lighter is probably causing a short. If it does, then maybe its working normally, but drawing too much current. Do you have a lighter from your other 330i? I mean, can you exchange it with a friends? I have no idea how interchangable lighters are between different car models/makes -- if some use more power than others, then I'm not sure how helpful a (for example) honda lighter would be in testing.
