I just thought I would give an update on my experience and findings on the PSS9 suspension for my 2002 330i. I had heard some info stating that some of the PSS9 kits would not work on some of the 330i’s I talked to Belstien people in Poway, CA and they did not know exactly what the deal was on the 330i but he did know that some people have had problems with the installation on some 330i that were built in the middle of 2001 and maybe early 2002. Apparently it is a clearance issue.
I called a distributor of Belstien’s and talked to a guy that told me to call Scott McDonnald at Bilstine 1-800-745-4636 and he would know what kit I would need to install on my car, if I could give him the production date. I talked to Scott and he did confirm that they had some problems with some production dates due to a change made by BMW during those production runs. He confirmed that my car was O.K and I needed part number GM5-8036. I have received the parts and am only waiting on the UUC Sway Barbarian before installing everything.
After purchasing the kit, I received a call from someone that talked to about the Belistiens and he wanted to warn me about the problem and he had heard that the PSS9 would not fit on any newer 330i. So once again I called Scott, gave him the number of the kit I purchased and he said no problem. I also gave him this web site http://www.my330i.com/mod10.php to check out the install instructions. He read them while on the phone and said this was a great set of instructions and he was glad I turned him onto it. He did say that MarvelPhx was correct in stating that step 10 on part II was a bitch but he said if you lift the arm up toward the body it will give you more room to work.
I can’t wait to get it all installed.
