Hi everyone, I just want to share the good news that for those of you (like me) who drives a Steptronic 330I can replaces the shift knob with Manul knobs. I met up with John from Jersey yesterday in a Jersey meet, and I saw his Hamann Manul knob on his Steptronic. He told me it's a simple job of pulling out the knob and then squeeze the new knob in ( check Marvel's garage page). However, because I have never done it myself, I don't know if other shift knobs from other brands can do the same. Ex. MOMO, ACS, even Factory BMW manul knobs. Please share what you know with me. Thanks

so i can take the same steps as Marvel shows in his garage and then pop the other nob on.......will it be harmful to the car in any way, and is it hard to get from park to drive mode?

Yes same steps as what Marvel did. No it would not hurt your car in anyway. The big difference is that you don't need to press the shift button on the shift knob anymore =] But to put in the right gears you want you still have to press the brake pedal.

I just purchased my MOMO Cobra (manul) knob for my automatic. I'll have the pic upload once I got it installed (if it fits of course =])

Is it difficult, cause I don't want to mess up anything. I always wanted to put the Hamann Evo (Leather/Aluminum) shift knob on my car, but I have step also. Hope it works out okay.

One more thing, I have a 2001 330, and to shift up I have to push my knob up, but on the 2002's, they pull down to shift up, I like this way better, I thinkit's sportier. Anyway, I was wondering how to change it, would the dealer have to reprogram my ECU?

Do a search over at E46fanatics, I know someone over there has reversed the steptronic's manual shift pattern...

my suggestion is to the reverse diagram is to get the new paddle-shift retro kit with sports steering wheel ^^ It's expansive but surely worth it!

I'm still waiting for my knob, I'll let you guys know as soon as it arrives.
