Has anyone ever installed an ASE Chip on their 330 E46 3.0L? It's $699.00. Is it worth it? Do you notice any changes?

This is what the changes are...

Specs Effected Stock ASE Chip
Max HorsePower: 225 HP 241 HP
Max Torque: 214 lb/ft 229 lb/ft
Speed Governor: Yes No
-------------------------
Speed governor is the limit of mph that your car is allowed. The speed governor won't allow your car to go over a certain speed. If you take that out...you are capable of going over it.

Sounds good. 241hp, nice. But how the hell is it installed?!

It goes like this.

"Today's automobiles are equipped with an Engine Control Unit (ECU), in which there is a chip that regulates several engine functions, such as timing, fueling, boost, speed limit, etc. So that the car may deliver excellent performance in different conditions, such as altitude and fuel quality --among many others--, the original program of the chip is designed for the standard requirements for normal engine operation. Chip tuning is the modification of an average chip program in order to increase the power and torque of the engine in any driving condition. Chip tuning will transform your car into a more powerful one while removing the Top Speed Limit that some cars have.

The end result of this modification in normally aspirated cars is a 10% increase of the power and torque of the engine, while in turbocharger or supercharged cars the result improves to a 20-35% increase of power and torque, Synchronizing the boost increase with air/fuel mixture and ignition timing curve is what makes the large numbers in horse power and torque for forced induction engines.

On most cars, the ASE chip also offers the advantage of increased revolutions (RPM) so that you can get the most out of your engine in the top end.

If your car has a Top Speed Limit, ASE removes it, unless specified by the customer.
Note: ASE strongly recommends the upgrade to Z/ZR rated tires. ASE does not encourage/or hold any responsibility to anyone who exceeds the posted speed limits.

Chip tuning is currently one of the most simple & trustworthy modification worldwide. Besides, the chip offers very noticeable results after a small part."~www.asechips.com
