Hi, I like the look of the Front License Plate Holder gone. I live in California, does anyone know if its legal there. BTW it seems that Hyper White Plate light in the back melted away the plastic.

I am pretty sure you *have* to have a front plate in California.

Where I go to school in San Francisco we get ticketed for EVERYTHING. I got a $25 ticket for having a totally clear license plate cover. It wasnt the prism ones it was totally clear and came from the dealership. BULL

For my other car, I removed the front licence plate holder. Stayed that way for 6 years and counting- no tickets (crossing fingers). Depends where you are in CA and your police dept.

Hey Guys,

What I have done on my 750il, I have replaced the front license plate with the european one, but I had them put the same license plate #'s on it as my original. I got stopped once here in Cali, but when the Cop saw the same #'s she let me go and said that it's legal. I like it better with the front euro plate. Just an idea for you guys who doesn't like the look of US plates.

I will take one pic and post it here soon.
I got the plates from the local shop where they sell all those aftermarket products for the import cars, mostly for Japaneese cars. Most of those stores will sell you a Euro plate. They will ask you what do you want to have written on it. I just gave them my real license plate # and that was it.

Darius,

I'm very interested in seeing your Euro plate. I think this would look so much better than the regular CA plate on my front end now. Does the place where you ordered it have a website?

Check ebay, I have seen euro style license plates for sale where you tell the seller what information you want on it. If a cop were having a bad this would probably still be illegal. I will ask my friend who is a cop tomorrow and get back to everyone.

yes you do need your front license plate in california. and depends on the cop if he/she is nice or an asshole. got pulled over for 5 times and the first 4 cops let me slide, the last one was an asshole and gave me a fixing ticket. so i was forced to put that ugly sore sight plate on my front bumper. :!:

I removed the plastic license plate holder that is part of the front bumper molding. Aftermarket companies make a piece that fits in the space where the bumper holder was removed. I have never been hassled

I got mine from the dealer... it was about $22 iirc. They had it in stock, as the front plate isn't required (nor is it issued by the DMV) here in NC.
