Hi guys,

Am thinking of changing the exhaust on my 330 saloon.

I have noticed that in one of the pipes there is a flap type device that seems to open and close electronically. If I change the exhaust system to another brand does it have the same flap or not.

If not where does the cable then go. Do I just insulate it and tape it up somewhere ?

Do you guys in the states have Powerflow exhausts ? They are custom made to each individual car ? I am thinking about 4 pipes. Can anyone see any performance downside to this ?

Many thanks in advance

The "flap" is a noise-regulator to meet strict European sound level laws. If you are in the US, you don't need it.

It is actuated by a vacuum line which you can disconnect and should seal off when you install an aftermarket exhaust. It won't hurt anything.

thanks for that Marvel.

So if the vacume tube was removed now, would the flap remain open and if it did, would car produce a different note ?

Yes, and yes.

It will stay open and will make more noise at low rpms.
