Does anyone know where to get colored brake calipers (red)? I am not looking for the whole kit (with brake rotors/disk, etc), just the calipers since I think BMW's brakes are plenty good. I just like the colored looks.

I think a lot of people just paint them with Foliatec (sp?) or some other hi-temp paint.

Yea, they sell paint kits. You have to use a paint brush to apply. Some you can use a spray can, but the brush applicator is the most popular.

or you can do what i did and get brembo calipers... hehehe if that doesnt stop me nothing will.
Brembo is expensive... but worth it, especialy resale.

But I hear you can't just put calibers on any rotors; they have to be compatible w/ each other. For example, I don't think you can use the Brembo calibers on the stock rotors. Is this true?

It all depends on the diameter and width of the rotor...
I have Brembo rotors while keeping my stock calipers...
Vice versa is also possible I imagine...

Can the calipers be powdercoated?
I guess I don't really know how hot they can get. Most powdercoat cures about 400 degrees F. Do they get much hotter than that?

The rotors on the Pontiac GP are powder coated if I'm not mistaken and that stuff doesn't chip off. I'd venture a guess and say that the red, black, and yellow Brembo-based calipers you see on the higher end Porsches are also powder coated. The caliper itself shouldn't see over 400 degrees, unless the pad and rotor aren't dissipating heat (which both are supposed to be doing).
For what it's worth, BavAuto is now selling powder coating stock calipers in their "Ultimate Brake Kit" - available for most models. This set is a far cry less expensive than the Brembo kits and you can get a similar look...

Tire Rack has a paint kit from G2. I'm thinking of getting it, but debating on either Blue, black or Silver. They are the paint on type. I'm sure you can find them elsewhere. If I recall correctly I think I even saw a kit at Pep Boys.
