Hi guys,
I'm thinking about starting down that long road called 'more power'.
Obviously first up on the list is an air filter. Is the stock 330i filter up to much cop ?
What product would you recommend ?
Panel or bolt on filter ?
Is the standard air box any good ?
Bear in mind that I'm in the UK and no-one seems to sell brand names like Dinan/UUC.
CHEERS !
Hi,
i was thinking about CAI too and the coolest ones seems to be from Dinan, u can ask them for mail order. However, Dinan claimed that software upgrade is needed for the CAI - which I'm currently skeptical abt meddling with the software - I'm located in Singapore.
Anyone has other opinion abt using Dinan CAI without the software upgrade?

Unfortunatly it is almost impossible to raise the horsepower on 330s. The only way to gain any real increase is with a supercharger. The Dinan software does not increase hp. BMW has already done a great job wringing out every bit of power from the 3.0 litre engine.
What about torq? I miss the pull I got form my 95'M3 with 3.0

Hey fellas,
I decided to go the economical route and got a K&N replacement filter. It was only like $50.00 compared to $200+ for the other CAI.Since it is a direct replacement, I dont have to really worry about rain puddles all the time.My gas milage has increased tremendously.Performance wise, I think that is a little gain, not much but I would assume as much as a Cold air set up.
I just think,my own opinion here, why pay all that cash for the cold air intake, when you could get the K&N replacement(which is theory does the same thing) and take the money you dont spend on the Cold air and get another mod instead, like the shark injector or DINAN software downlaods. You could kill 2 birds with one stone. In this day and age,the price is right.

I tried a K&N on my 2001 330I and I think it made a small bit more hp. Then when I got my 2002 330I I could not get a K&N and put in a King Dragon (looks almost the same as K&N and fits tighter than the K&N in the standard aircleaner housing, however this gives faster throttle reponse and better consumption. Just wish we could get decent exhaust in SA !

The Dinan Software is programmed to let the new intake (exhaust, throttle body, whatever you have from Dinan) cooperate perfectly with your engine and its software.
