Hesitation

Do you guys feel the hesitation in the gas pedal (acceleration)with you're 330i like many do in the 330ci? They have the sam engine, right?

i duno what your talking about. but when i'm accerating through first and second. sometimes, my car suddenly starts lurching foward at around 2800rmp in each gear. it's kinda scary. but does anybody else have that?

i kinda get that too. actually sometimes when im starting off from a stand still my car will start to go then kicks forward after a little bit like the clutch is not engaging right away. kinda wierd.

I believe this is a little nuance that is inherent in most if not all BMWs.

My 325Xi does not do this but there are probably two additional reasons why it might not lurch. One is it doesn't have as much power 184 vs 225. Plus the All Wheel Drive keeps me from spinning at all. I have only gotten it to spin the front tires if I launch it very hard like 4K in first gear. But this is probably because the weight is shifting to the rear and there is less weight on the front tires. You may want to try the same test a couple times with the DSC turned off completely. Look in the owners manual on how to do this. I believe you have to hold it down for 10 seconds until the traction light and the brake light are illuminated. On my Xi I can only turn the DSC off not the traction control. It has something to do with the fact I have three differentials.

Do you guys have the standard or auto? I have a auto and have had no problems.

I have 2001 330i - 5 speed with no hesitation off the line, however I have driven a 2001 325i - auto. and a 2001 330Ci - auto. and I noticed hesitation whenever I would step on the execrator from a dead stop. It seemed as if it took a split second for the clutch to disengage. It might be something with just automatic transmissions. Go test drive a 330i - 5 speed at your local dealer and see if you can tell a difference. There might be an adjustment for automatic transmissions.
