2001 Titanium Silver 330i auto w/ tip, extended warranty, loaded except Zenon lights... absolutely LOVE it (upgraded from 20th Anniv. Maxima)!!! Anyway, would like to modify the performance w/out spending a fortune. Would you suggest CAI and exhaust? Is the exhaust worth modifying? Where can I get pricing? Even though 2 horses less than the Maxima, I think it blows it off the road!!!

Btw... visit your site daily... OUTSTANDING!!! Great info!!!

I wouldn't know much about the new Maxima, but I still own a 97 SE Maxima and love it just the same. It is not, however, a BMW.

BMWs are just built better and definitely designed with the driver and road in mind.

On a 330, I don't know how much an exhaust would improve the car's performance, same with CAI. They will both provide marginal gains. A CAI will give you better throttle response, while an exhaust will sound quite a bit different and possibly some mid-to-high RPM gains.

I have the UUC TSE exhaust and the car "feels" like it pulls better on the highway, but it could also be in my head! The sound alone, though, is worth every penny.

Ok, sounds good, I agree with the sound being worth it... so then what options do I have... price wise?

A Maxima bonding moment....

I'm another 330i owner that "upgraded" from a Maxima (2000 GLE).

The 330i is a completely different car! As far as driving goes, the BMW is much more enjoyable.

Two things that I miss from the Maxima:
1. The cup holders and arm rest storage - the adjustable arm rest was a nice touch.
2. The Bose stereo in the Maxima sounded 100% better than the HK in the 330i. This is only my opinion, but I believe that Bose does a much better job with seven speakers than HK does with twelve.

The fortunate thing is my sister now owns my old Maxima and I still get to enjoy the Bose on occasion.

Sorry to use up your precious server storage space with this post, Marvel!

I too am a former maxima owner who just purchased a new 2002 330i. I've been driving maximas since 1995 and love the cars but I'm definitely ready to move up a notch. My current maxima is a 2000 model with an automatic tranny, however the car is supercharged and the transmission is heavily modified to handle the full 350 hp! The car is a screamer BUT I'm tired of front wheel drive and I need way better handling. My new 330i is due at the end of May and I speced it out as follows: Titanium Silver with black leatherette and brushed aluminum trim, Sport package, BiXenons, Moonroof, 5-speed manual. The MSRP was $38,185 and I was able to get it down to $37,000. I'm pretty happy with that price given that BMW typically doesn't negotiate too much off sticker. I can't wait till it gets here. I honestly think it would even give my current maxima a run for its money and possibly edge it out. Later
