I have an automatic 330 and I was wondering if companies make aftermarket torque converters for the 330 so they wouldn't suck out so much hp. I heard after market torque conerters eliminate that lag you get from autos, and also get more miles per gallon. They also increase power and spees because as I said before, "they wouldn't suck out so much hp, and the eliminate te lag." So any information on that would be very helpful. Thanks.

You can try PROTORQUE (http://www.protorque.com) or a company called TCS PERFORMANCE (http://www.tcsperformance.com). They both make custom ones if you send them specs. Might give them a try.

Torque converter = Final drive gear.
Dinan (& some others) makes a torque converter (Final Drive Gear) for the 330 that is a 2.93 ratio (replacing the stock 3.0 F.D.G.) The resulting effect will be about a 7-8 % increase in torque to the ground (a bit less w/ an automatic) This computes to an app. 15Lb. torque increase. Because this is a Gear, the physical effect to the car (the way it "pulls" and accelerates) will be very noticable. The gearing change will be felt dramatically "at the ground". At a cost of $1500 plus about 4 hours ( professional shop time) this is a cost effective mod. Be advised that your car will be LESS fuel efficient because the RPM's will be higher in EACH gear. At a crusing speed of 70MPH in 5th. the car will be producing app. 3000 rpm with the modified F.D.G. Stock rpm at 70MPH should be app. 2700 (a 300 rpm difference. ) In the real world this might be a 1.5 or 2 MPG reduction at highway speeds.

A torque converter is not the same as the rear differential (where the final drive gears are located).
