When I put my 2001 330i in reverse, only the right side view mirror tilts downward. Is that normal or are they both supposed to tilt downward?

Yes its supposed to dip so that you can see how far your wheels are from the curb when backing into a parking spot (see your manual). If you dont like this feature you can disable it by moving the mirror adjustment swithch from the right to the left.

no. only your passenger side mirror should tilt down.

at first its an anoying feature but after a while you will wonder how you ever parked with out it..
