I'm starting this post about car kills and I hope it becomes the hottest topic. Anyway, I don't go looking for people to race, it's just that when teenagers and others see a young guy (me) driving a 330i, they all have to challenge me. I always feel guilty everytime I punch the throttle, but I also never back down from a challenge (unless I'm out of gas). Anyway I hope people will post their stories here, and I'll post my stories later on; this current post is getting too long.

I don't condone this topic, but I will not delete it. When some punk pulls up to me in his Darth-Ricer, I rev it and scoot it and give him the look... then at green, I let him waste all his gas showing off to someone who could care less and I casually drive off normally. Let them be the idiots...

You have a very good point, I never thought of it that way. I just thought people would like to have some fun.

No point in bothering with all those Rice-racers anyway.
Note: Although I have a Dinan 330i that is absolutely the finest 330i in NJ, I still allow the rice burners to waste their gas, tires, money on tickets and breath as they are living a fantasy world of actually being able to beat me. In reality, there is no other.
Not a race nor a kill, but you might find this interesting.
Was in Cincinnati on business Saturday. Going north of the outerbelt, I was passed by a black 90's SL600. Dropped to fourth. (grey 330i Sport). 100...110...120...Finally, at an indicated 135 (I was surpised b/c I thought I had a 130mph limiter) I evened up. Accelerated further and closed the gap. We ran in a train at an indicated 135-145 for four miles before he pulled off. Slowed to 80. Two miles later, saw a State highway patrol cop.
...heart flutter...
Then the next day, some jagoff in a 1991 Accord slid sideways across a snowy road and hit me in the front bumper. No visible damage to the Xenons but ya never know!

This is a freeway race. One time when coming home from Irvine (I live in North Hollywood), I was going 80 mph already (it seems so easy to get to 80 & 90 mph), and this guy in an Mercedes E-something(i think 320) comes buy and starts to honking. I look over and he starts gunning it and takes off. I put it into sports, and take off after him. I pass him at when I hit 125, and but we both have to slow down to weave our way through the slight traffic with me in front of him. Once we get trought the traffic, we both gun it and I take off, and just like the person above me, I hit 135 in a couple of seconds. All I see are his hyper white lights in my rear view mirror. Then my friend tells me to slow down because there's a CHP on the side of the road giving someone a ticket. That was my first freeway race in the 330.

I raced two different 740iL's .. the 1st one was kinda old, it was a 1994 model. I raced it from 0-100 mph.. i was almost 2 cars infront of him and going.. the second was just a dash to 60 with my friends new 740iL. the 1st time my wheels were spinning a lot! the second time i caught the dash, i was infront by 1 car length from the beginning..
I also raced an S 320 (2000) i smoked the hell out of it..
I also smoked an LS 400 + Caprice LTZ.

this past weekend I had the previdge of schooling a new Ford Mustang Bullet.I'm a young guy headed out to get some barnies coffe and this guy,mid 50's,honks at the light and wants to go.I think he must have just watched fast N' furious or something.Anyhow,I had him at a half car at 60,at 125 he was fading away in the rearview. So we get to the next light and good ole' team viagra mustang wont even look at me. Sore loser.

I had the priviledge of showing a Audi S4 how the BMW rocks it, and show the guy driving a thing or two also.
I was leaving the movie theater with my girlfriend and he was doing the same with his girlfriend. We were pretty much the only cars in the lot and near as I can figure, he must have gotten mad cause his girl was lookin' at me, and he screams out of the parking lot. I take my time leaving and find him waiting for me at the next light. He puts his blinker on to go left and I do the same. The light changes, he go left, I go right.
Again, I guess he didn't get the hint, turns around and gets on my ass. So, being the ball breaker I am, I take my time getting to the next light. The road after the light splits into two, light turns green and I start driving normal as I see his car start to change lanes, I punch it and its on. First, second, third I keep him at half a length behind me. Bang forth and start to pull away as he gets scared and backs off.
At the next light, I give him alittle tire smoke and put it sideways around the corner to cap off his nights. C-YA

Hey when you smoke someones ass, I feel they deserve it.As long as it is in a controled enviroment, like a empty parking lot or road off the beaten path. Most of the time it is some little punk that thinks his car is from the fast and furious. Most of the time the guys that you race are your friends anyway, so if someone else wants to try you, then let em'.Yea it might be gas,but hey, a win is a win.

i don't like to race because there's no point and i don't want to ruin Gretle(my 330i). However, when i feel like it or if i'm pissed off because there are those dumb rice burners trying to show off i smoke them just to shut them up. recently i even smoked a(supposedly) supercharged celica with aem parts.

Sure it makes fun to toast all those ricers, see there faces when you are at a stoplight, let them pass the length of one car and then push the throttle and fly away but finally it´s also fun to behave like Marvel said. I toasted some of those Dodge things (don´t really know the name)every Golf I saw untill now (maybe the Golf R32 is capable to keep up), an Eclipse, some Audis...In germany it´s much more fun, unless you can drive as fast as you want, as long as you want /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Well -- I know this is a post for smoking the comp... but I ended up getting smoked.
I have a 2000 328i sd w/sp all stock.
I was driving down the city street as this kid drives right beside me -- he's driving a 2002 S10 mini truck -- It was tricked... had flow masters and who knows what else... It looked tricked...
He looks at me and started to floor it... I floored it and the race was on... started at 2nd gear by the time I hit 4th he was Ahead by less then a car length... close but he had me. Reached about 100 then we both slowed down -- light coming up and we both knew it was a stupid think to do!!! I looked over to him pointed to him and gave him a thumbs up. He won... Dammm that sucks...
But I would rather be driving my car than his little truck.
I just ordered a new 330i sd w/pp.cp,sp,18'wheels, and xenon. After I get the 330i I am going to the Dinan in Morgan Hill -- to get some mods done for more HP gains. I will not race the car in public streets again that was pretty stupid..but its a guy thing.

I have had people try to race me but I usually don't comply with their wishes. Sometimes I'll give it a fast start then calmly ease off and shift to second. Other times I'll let them jump out then catch/pass them and then again ease off. I just like to toy with them every now and then. I'm with Marvel, why waste your gas.

I live in South Florida where it seams like everyday someone dies due to street racing. I grew up in LA. But no place I have been to has the amount of car crashes like Miami. I have to admit I do let loose sometimes just for fun or to prove a point but after a block or so let up. I agree with Marvel I love to see guys pull up next to me and signal they want to race. I make them think I’m game and then the light turns green I just cruise. They get so worked up. They are filming the Fast and the furious 2 here in Miami and I think its making kids here go crazy thinking their cars are fast.

I don't even bother acknowledging them.....reminds me of a joke:
Two bulls (a young one and an old one) are on top of a hill looking at a valley full of cows. The younger says "let's run down and nail one of them" to which the older replys "better yet, let's casually WALK down the hill and nail them ALL!" Better to style with STYLE in your 330 than race around like one of them.......

OK, OK I agree with not racing most of the time but.....
Saturday night my wife and I were leaving the movie theater (went to see the transporter, pretty snazzy driving) and a new black Altima cuts me off, the 3.5 model I see. Hmm, I've been hearing at work how these are supposed to be quick, and the guy has his windows down, and I get next to him at the next light, he keeps knodding at me as well as revving his (mom's) new engine. My wife says, don't, then he keeps looking and she says "OK nevermind"
I think to myself, my team the LSU Tigers had gotten there backsides handed to them by a division rival just a few hours earlier and I decide, yes, let's end the day on a good note.
I take the DSC/ASC off, rev to 3000 and wait for green, light turns, I dump the clutch as I floor it, my rather large rear tires hook up in an instant, by the top of first, I had him by more that a car-length. I hit second and he's drifting back, I let off because my on ramp is coming up.
There is a yield sign, so I brake to let the traffic go, he gets behind me revving like he thinks he needs another shot...I wait for the traffic to get far ahead, the on ramp is a classic S curve, so I jump on it and hit the curves like only my baby with UUC and Eibach's help can and as I hit I-12 at near 90 mph, I look back to see him trying to match my tracks as he pushes the front of his macho-nissan past the shoulder... "That was fun" my wife states.. "yes" I agree, that was....
Then we found an awesome new Thai restaraunt.
Ended up being a good evening...unless you were driving a "energy surplus" Altima....or on the LSU football team. As always, be safe.
well

Good job on smokin the nissan. Nice story Zoneblitz. I find that these new Nissan and Honda owners want to test their cans against our BMWs. Just proves that sometimes, HP numbers on paper don't matter. Once in a while, it is nice to remind them who's top dawg.

I agree, numbers on paper don't mean much.
I love to go test drive new cars, I drove the V6 Altima, I was disappointed, the only thing softer than the suspension was the transmision.
The salesman kept saying "nice huh" and "it really corners" my reply was "Are you kidding...this thing has more roll than a bakery!"
I was mainly disappointed in the inability to get the alleged 255 hp to the wheels..
Just my humble (sometimes slightly biased) opinion.
Be safe, don't be too anal, and most importantly ENJOY your ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE.

haha, "more roll than a bakery." I've never heard that one. Anyway, I thought the Altima was suppose to have 240 Bhp, not Whp. With the numbers the altima gets, that thing probably loses a lot of hp in transferring to the wheels.

I think it's time I post on of my kill stories:
I was coming home from the valley hanging out w/ friends (I used to live in No. Hollywood) and I get on the 170N along with these riced out V6 accord and V6 Eclipse.
They're just pacing me and all of a sudden we see this V6 mustang just zoom past us. So they go WOT, and let them go at it, cause I didn't really want to waste gas, but I thought, "what the hell?" So I go WOT like 8 seconds after they did. WE all pass the V6 mustang up (they're pathetic), and I quickly catch up to the V6 accord and eclipse, and after I reach my limiter and have a good 8 car lead on them I let off the gas. These guys are still going WOT, and thy're probably thinking, "holy shit! I'm catching up to a 330i (I didn't take of my badge yet)" I let them catch up until they reach my bumper, then it's bye bye Ricers again. That was hilarious. Oh yeah, this was all done at 3:00AM. I don't like doing that when other poeple are on the road.
I have a bunch of these stories, I guess I'll post them from time to time.

Passed a G35 and explorer on an on ramp.
G35 followed by passing the SUV but didn't give much of a chase. Probably a wuss.
I was expecting a little more fun.
Oh well, another time, another place.
HP numbers on paper do mean a lot but only if you consider gear ratios too.

what i'd like to see in these car comparisons, especially among sporty cars is to even the playing field a bit. i was looking through an old r&t mag with 11 sport sedans compared. i was looking at the various tire sizes and compounds. i would like to see the performance comparisons with everyone wearing a set of pilot sports. i would keep the same tire size as the factory provides since that's what they engineered the rest of the car for. but at least put all the cars on the same compound and see how they fair. and why don't they rent a dyno and put the cars on the dyno to measure hp at the wheel?
FRANCO

I think because most people don't know or don't care about that stuff. They just want to know how the car would be ouot of the box. I'm talkking about those people who look to C&D, Edmunds, or R&T to see what their next car should be. That would be a good idea though, because the car would only perform as much as its contact patch would allow it.

If they could just go ahead and do that...That'd be great...
- Bill Lumberg
I just read the C&D "Ultimate 2002 Comparison" issue. Apparently the IS300 finished 3rd partly because the manufacturer was unable to provide a car with Sport wheels/tires. Who are these idiots and why are they still employed? If your car was going up against a 330i, wouldn't you make sure to provide the best model, no excuses? Hell pull one out of a dealership if you need to and write it off as advertising.
Yeah it would be nice to have them all on the same rubber. Another way to look at it though is to make a personal choice. In the case of the IS300 (assuming all else being equal) you could buy the cheaper car and use the difference to upgrade the wheels, suspension etc. Sure our stock 330i wheels are nice but I sure would prefer SSR GT3's for example.
Bottom line is people are often irrational and emotional. Some people simply are not that into cars... they just have money and buy it because it's pretty. I, on the other hand, really don't put looks as first priority but would give a kidney for 500HP and a 2500 lb. chassis (sounds much more rational) /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

It is such a guy thing. Especially when your a month from 17. When I fist got my license I saw the road as me vs the world. I've calmed and drive pretty conservatively now since I know what will happen to my insurance if I get a ticket. But out of the handfuls of times I've driven my parents 02 330i its totally unresistable to smoke the fools in their half an inch off the ground civics where they just cut the springs instead of getting firmer ones.

Well, a little tip from a guy who just turned 18. Within a week of getting the M5 I had a major ticket, drag racing. Actually the ticket was for "exhibition of speed," but pretty much the same thing. Luckily for me, I was able to get off in court with no points on my license, just a day in driving school. I could have lost my license though. So my advice to you guys is keep the racing on the track and leave the stupidity to the "Type-R" civic, which by the way has naturally 30 hp gains with every type r sticker. Of course if it's a straight away and you're just gonna cook the ricer to the speed limit...

I was racing a Jaguar XK8 at the time. Whatever that convertible is that Jaguar makes. Anyways, we were coming down cactus it started out as just an adrenaline rush going triple figures with him from 64thst to Hayden. Then we were both stopped at a light. I revved and dropped the clutch at about 3500 rpm. Yes I won by quite a bit from the line, at least 2 car lengths, but Po. got me and I think the Jag got away. It was a kill, but by no means worth the ticket.

Speaking of encounmters with the law, I have a few friends that are cops and I know there car numbers pretty well.
Last night about 2300, I was coming over my favorite (infamous 160+ mph raised I-10 through the swamp)and I came up on one of my buddies....well I thought I had better make sure its him so I pulled up slow and positively ID'd him...It was Dwayne...oh fun I thought.
I slowed down to about 50 mph to have some room to get it, I promptly gave my baby all she had and passed him doing over 140 mph!
he freaked out!!! He turmed his lights on and tried to keep up...about that time my cell phone rang..It was him...He said "you scared the shit out of me!!!" he then said let me catch up...
When he did, we were both going 70 and he said let's see what my cruiser will do... so I lit into her again and by 120 was leaving him...by 140 he was long gone....he yelled over the nextel....ok, that's enough..so I figured I would screw with him and said, come get me!...He lauged, and we followed eachother to my house and B.S.'d for a bit.
I told him that next time he sees a BMW pass him, he had better just let him go!
Later.

Were you racing a cop car?!?! I once saw two cops go at it from a stop light, of course they were pretty much even all the way, but it was pretty cool seeing cops being like that.
I better remain annonymous on this one.
I was traveling from Reno NV to Lake Tahoe NV at around 2:30 AM. With my BMW not the 3 series. 3 friends in the car. It's a long straight uphill freeway. We were going around 100 - 110mph. Suddenly I pick up a signal on my radar detector. It was a weak signal. I slowed down to about 90Mph, I thought it was just a false alarm. A few seconds later my rear passenger is telling me that he saw a cop traveling in the oposite direction and making a U turn on the freeway. I looked into my rear view mirror and yes I did see a headlights of a car far back. I thought my buddy was joking. The car did not have any sirens turned on. Well just in case I sped up to about 130MPH. Shit the car behind was getting closer. Damn I hit the gas pedal all the way down. I begin to pull away from the car behind. Suddenly the police light comes on. "Damn it was a cop" I said to myself. Adrenaline rush kicks in. My friends just saying "Don't stop just keep going." After hitting my limiter at around 160mph on my speedometer, the cop was long gone. Even though my limiter is at 155mph. Spedo showed 160. Damn if not the limiter the car could just keep accelerating. (After this I did have the limiter removed) I stayed at that speed for a while. It was easy with no cars on the road. After a while you get use to the speed. Finaly we slow down to about 55mph, switch to a right lane and wait for the cop. Few seconds later we see the lights again. My friend is saying "Don't worry maybe the cop will pass us. He won't think it was us." Yeah right keep dreaming. He pulls right behind us. I pull over. He stays back with his gun pointing and screaming. "Hands out of the window everyone" Then when he realizes it's safe he comes over to me and says. " Son, you are lucky that you slowed down. I was calling in for backup already." Hey he turned out to be a very nice cop at the end. He admired the car. He said that he was about to give up chasing me and would just call in for another cop somewhere 10 miles ahead. He was going more than 140 up hill and I was still pulling away. He did give me a ticket for excessive speed. But that was it. He let us go:) I guess I was a damn crazy driver at young age. Now I am in my twenties and drive very safe. /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif So don't go and do any of the crazy s**t I did. You would be endangering lifes of others and yours.

Had aggressive Acura 3.2TL Type S on me yesterday. He flew up on me from nowhere so I gave him a opportunity when the highway went to four lanes. I waited, and waited, shifted down to 3rd, and waited some more....
He wouldn't come up next to me while he had the chance but then he decided it would be cool to blow by me after I figured he didn't want to play. Punk!
Found him at the next light a mile or so later and turned right with him. He knew he was going to pay and was giving it all it had. I closed the gap going through the corner and just let the car go to work! A car was in the right lane ahead and he was in the left. I couldn't get around him in time so I just got behind him. I was in his rear seat in an instant. I wish I had a big neon sign that said "MOVE OUT OF MY WAY!"
I love the engine sound what that thing starts to rev... Okay, I'll behave from now on.

okay, I'm gonna leave out a few details cause I'm not really proud of what I was doing under the circumstances. Anyway, on to the kill story.
I had about 4 people in my car, and we were on the 71 going towards the 60 to MT. SAC. I was dropping something off for my brother to his friend who lives near the school. Anyway, so I'm driving at a constant 70mph, and this civic hatch, with a B18 conversion comes wizzing past me. My friend thought it was his friend so, not really wanting to race, I caught up to it so he could have a look. So imagine four guys in a bimmer staring at your civic.
Anyway, he slows down a bit to (i know for a fact) check out my badge in the back. However, I just had my 330i badge removed. So he probably thought, "oh, it's just another 323i I could easily smoke, which he probably could. So he guns it, about 3 seconds later, I gun it; however, he's still pulling!!! My friends were yelling at me to punch it already, but I didn't know why he was pulling, I thought maybe it was because I had 4 people in the car. But then I look down and see white smoke coming out of his exhaust, "He's squeezing!!!" I was getting really scared of the fact that I'm about to lose to a civic hatch. But, as we reach 100mph, he stops pulling, and then I start catching up. Once we reach 105, I was dead even, the just kept on going; when I passed him, we all yelled, "CHEATER!!!!". I reached my governer of 135, and I left him in the dust. Serves him right for busting Nitrous on the freeway, freakin' cheater.

Its about 2:00 in the morning, just had a race. Weird how it happened actually. I was hungry, after studying Organic Chemistry, so I decided to go to Wendy's to get some grub. So I turn onto City Line Ave, and I see a Suburbun tailing me. We pull up to a light and he pulls next to me....He rolls down his window and yells, (in a mocking voice) "yo I got four people in my car, lets see how bad you can beat me." Now its been a long night of studying, I am pretty pissed about all these equations I have to memorize......this guy put me over the edge. I look at him and smile....and say sure. I start to get a adrenaline rush waiting the red light to turn green.......all of a sudden....GREEN.....I hit my pedal as hard as I can against the floor, look in my rear view and start to burst out laughing.
I eventually hit another red light, and to my amazement this guy comes up to my car and yells, that "aint so good." I looked at him and laughed, and then winked at his girl who was smiling at me. I love drivin a BMW......then hunger took over and I pulled into Wendy's....realizing that I just raced a Suburban?! Next time I will make sure my BM has some better comp.

I spoke to one of my high school buddies the other day and he had expressed to me that he wanted another piece of the BlackManWheels. The last time we raced it was completely even from 50 to 115. Since then he had added a DC racing intake.
Anyhow, we make it to the freeway and are sitting side by side until the 3rd honk. He immediately starts to walk away from me. We ran them to 110 2 seperate times and the result was the same. He pulled 3 cars each time. Around 105 or so he would stop his pull. I was getting near the top of my 4th and he was almost at the top of his 5th. I was anxious to see what would happen if I got it into 5th and him into 6th. We are on for a rematch when I get my 330Ci;)
His car is an 01' RSX Type S
i had a close call from being caught by a highway patrol. First off, I don't condone speeding that risks lives. Occasionally, I'll open up my baby when the roads are safe and when there are no cops.
So last night, I was on highway 15, going 75 mph, when a modded up Ford F150 truck gets right on my butt. I changed lanes and speeded up a bit, so he can pass, instead opts to stay close behind me. At this point I'm saying what the F*%$! This guy wants a piece of me. I couldn't believe this guy, he thinks I'm driving a Japanese car or something (he, he). So I floored my baby, to the ground, and zoom I AM FLY-IN. Gosh, what a magnificent sound from the engine, menacing growl, the suspension and tires were more and more clawed to the pavement as my baby keeps pullin. I look down the odo and in an instant doing 120 mph under 5 seconds from 75! I look back in the rear view and saw him fading out so fast, about 15 car lengths. I drop down to 80 and say he's learned his lesson. Then, I see the truck coming in pretty fast again. Right on my butt again. He wanted more! Alright, so I gun it again and bam, I'm gone again. I can see he was definitely trying to get every ounce of HP from his truck but just could not keep up.
Right before I was about to pull back, there were a few cars in the 2 slow lanes, and surprise, a HIGHWAY PATROL, saw him about 10 car lengths ahead, two lanes to the right. I slam the brakes hard and dropped back to 70 mph. What awesome brakes we have, unbelievable control and precision. At this point, I say that's it. They would've seen me from their rear mirrors, a car with high intensity Xenons closing in at a very high speed. They would have never missed that. No way! I was sure he's gonna pull me over and write me a ticket, or even jail time. So I make a lane change and as I slowly pass the patrol car, almost dejected surrender, both men are looking at a car to their right. I'm still nervous at this point. I look at my rear view, the highway patrol turns on its red lights, still not sure if it's for me. Then, joy joy, they got right behind the car they were eyeing earlier. Whew, I learned my lesson. Was going 65 the rest of the way. Just so relieved and thankful I didn't get a ticket or jail time. The highway patrol men were so busy eyeing another car, they narrowly missed my Xenons coming in. I'm a lot more cautious now, when I open my 330i up, making sure its open and clear up ahead.
Counting my blessings,
Jess

Funny thing just happened about an hour ago. I was sitting at a red light and a civic pulls up next to me. So he sees a teenager and thinks to himself "race time." So he starts revving his salad shooter exhaust with his front wheel drive car and massive wing. All the while he misses the fact that I have a cop sitting right behind me. What a dumb ass. Anyway, I play along and start revving my engine. The light goes green and bam he's off, meanwhile I start going at five miles per hour. And then there goes the sirens, pulling out from behind me, the cop chases down the civic and pulls him over. God that kid was a moron! So next time you decide to cut it loose, check the mirrors first! /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Hey guys this is a great topic! And I totally agree about that menacing tone. I can never get enough of that sound! I know its off the subject a little, but this topic made me think of Fast & the Furious. I don't drive a manual so bare with me. What did Vin mean when he said "Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should." I have an idea 'bout the latter part, but I thought I'd ask you guys what he means by that line.

Thanks, it is a great subject. I never thought I would get this many replies. Granny shifting is really really slow shifting you would do in normal city streets. Heck, I think even slower than that. I don't know why he mentioned double-clutching because double-clutching is for autocrossing when the racers want to rev match to enter a turn. My friends and I always look to see what else is wrong with the Fast and the Furious. We found a bunch of stuff.
For example, why would the floor board in the passenger side of the eclipse fall apart when he busted that last shot of nitrous? I don't see how the two are connected, unless the people half-assed putting the car together and it couldn't take the speed. And when Paul Walker picked up Vin Diesel to get away formt he cops, where is he putting his feet? I thought the floor board came loose. I have a bunch more if you want to hear.
Maybe we should start a whole thread on it?

I agree that the granny shifting means slooooooow shifts, but in this context it is for downshifting. And I double clutch when driving hard to keep the shifts smoother.
Why wouldn't you heel-toe in autocrossing so you can brake later?

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention this guy lives near me, and my cousin knows him, and the fact he has a B18. Not sure if it's A B or C though. Plus, even without the nitrous, I pull waaaaayyy harder on normal civic engines.
Here in the Midwest, St. Louis area, there aren’t many japanese boy racers. The ones that look the part are usually just a loud exhaust and a spoiler. Ford and GM are still the big players. The worst of the bunch are the Pontiac Grand (Pick a name)s. Many have superchargers.
So the other day, as I was near exiting the highway going home, I got in a line of 5-6 cars about a quarter mile from the exit. I go to the back of the line because I don’t want to be impolite and cut in front of someone. There is too much traffic to make it to the front. Well that doesn’t stop a late model Pontiac Grand Prix with dual pipes(indicating supercharger) from barging in near the front of the line. This kind of hacks me off so I’m thinking if there is way to get back at him.
My 330i is brand new with only a few hundred miles on it so I can’t get too crazy even if I should catch up to him.
The off ramp is long and opens to 3 lanes. One goes right and the other two go left. Well the car gods must have been smiling on me as all the other cars except the Pontiac get in the right. The light is red as we approach the stop, there are 2 cars sitting in the right left turn lane and none in the left left turn lane which me and the Pontiac are in.
I’m a few car lengths back thinking we’re gonna stop anyway and I can’t get around him cause of the 2 cars already blocking the other left turn lane. Well the car gods continue to smile and turn the light green when we’re about a 100 yards away. He speeds up which really amazes me because no one around here seems to know how to negotiate a corner at speed. They all only want to run in a straight line. I’m right on his ass as we enter the turn. He starts slowing down in the turn and I have to also because the other lane is still blocked by the 2 cars that were sitting at the light. About half through the turn the other lane opens up and I make my move. I pass him on the right in the turn and am already 2 car lengths ahead when the light on the other side of the underpass turns red and we both have to stop.
It now becomes a stop light race which worries me because my car is new and I can only let her rev so far. The light turns green, we both nail it. I’m watching my revs and shifting at 4500 on each gear. Before I know it I’m 2 car lengths ahead and he gives up.
Guess he’ll think twice about crowding in front of a BMW in the future.

I was really making fun of the movie, why would you have to double-clutch in a drag race? But yeah, heel-toeing is just a number of techniques you use for autocrossing. People use both heel-toe and doule clutching (not necessairly at the same time). I've seen those Japanese videos were they show the car, the driver, and the driver's feet; I love those videos.

I wasn't referring to dragging.
Just the technique in general, which is usually used during deceleration into turns.
You would not do both at the same time.
One or the other.
And I never saw the movie.

cheers on the Ronin.
My favrite part is when he says.."I need and Audi S8...with Nitrous.....2 tanks!"
There was some great driving...also see the Transporter.
Really cool.
In the movie, he is referring to clutching a second time in the middle to top of each gear...not good on clutch. But it is effective.
In first, launch, then at 4500-5000 rpm leave your foot on the gas and "pop" the clutch, then once revs max out, shift to 2nd..you can do it in each gear...really helps in 4th on hwy when getting above 130mph.
for the record, the guy did start it!!!

I always wondered how I would do against a Mustang GT. I know they have 240 ponies and they're really light. I remember kicking the crap out of a 2001 Maxima and I didn't even know it. I was brake torqueing to show my friend how to do it, and I guess the driver in the Maxima thought I wanted to race. We also wanted to time the launch and the stoplight with the song "Song 2" by Blur, I love that song ever since I saw it in STAR. Anyway, so we timed it perfectly, and we launched right when the llight turned green and the song went, "WOOOOO HOOOOO!!!" the my friend says, "oh shit, that maxima is trying!!!, I turn on my hazards telling him I beat him (w/o knowing) and I turned a right at the next street.

Well lets see, if you ask Marvel then he'll tell you that they don't stand a chance. Of course he does have a blown 330 putting out over 300 hp. A stock 330 would probably not fair well against a Mustang GT or an SVT Cobra or Camaro Z28 or SS. Marvel's however would more than likely go to town on them and keep up pretty easily with an SS. Now if it were an actual track the 330 would own every one of those cars except maybe the Cobra. Then again, Marvel's 330 would easily keep up with any of those muscle cars in virtually any setting, except maybe a modified cobra or SS on a straight drag strip. It's all a question of Horsepower. BMWs are heavier and the 330i has 225 hp(stock)while the muscle cars have over 300, with the exception of the GT which is like 250+ I think. Basically, the BMW is not raw muscle. It's a touring car and handles well. While the latter is for a straight line. Bottom line- Track + muscle car = death, Track + BMW = /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif , Drag strip + muscle car = /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif , Drag strip + stock 330 = :-| , you get the idea.

I have a 95 Mustang GT 5.0 Engine with Mods as the Mustang GTs are so easy and cheap to mod to add more horsepower. I raced a 330i before I ever thought of buying one. It was close but I won as I had the quicker pick up and lower gears (3.73s). I raced Camaros and Z28 with my mustang and won a few and a lost of few, HP and the car is one factor but the driver is another. IS300 is OK but not meant for racing at least a 330i as I test drove both cars, the 330i easily slaps the IS300 in the ass.
But coming from a mustang GT to a 330 is a world of difference. The accelartion is smoother and more synched, handling is by far uncontested, we have I6 engines where Cobras, GT, Chevy's have v8 wider throttle and bigger engines. I still prefer a 330i over any other vehicle in the market, pricey not really, you are getting a BMW for life. Othe cars u pay as much within 2 years u are trading it or selling, our cars are keepers...Besides after every race in the stang I had to go back to the gas station and fill up. /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

You have the 2JZ-GE, while the Supra has the 2JZ-GTE (I might be wrong with the last letters). But it would take upwards of about $50,000+ to have your car up to Supra par. Funny I just had an encounter with an IS300 last night. I was heading home on I95 and I pull alongside him. He would not stop staring me down. I was tired and just wanted to head home so I didn’t pay attention to him. But then he started creeping closer to me to get my attention. To the point that I had to move over to the next lane. Now I am not big on street racing (way too many accidents here in Miami). But I had enough of this jerk. So when we got to point where there was no traffic ahead of us I looked at him and motioned to open up and let me see what he’s got. I slowing accelerated from 60 to about 80 and let him pass me a bit to let him think he had me. Then I floored it and kept it there till about 130mph. He was a couple of cars behind. And I could tell he was trying hard to keep up. Didn’t take long to catch up to traffic where I slowed down and got with the flow. He still wanted more but I would not race him thru traffic so that is where it ended. I could tell he was not a happy boy /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I have to give it up to the Porsche 911 GT2. I had the one demonstrate its abilities to me the other day. I was driving down a main street the other night. No cars on the road. He was pulling out of a gas station as I passed him at about 100. He pulled next to me at the light he as an older man in his late 40s I would say. He looked at me and motioned that he want to play. I said what the hell there is no one on the road and I want to see how fast his car really is. Well I found out! I knew he would take me but damn that car is fast. I pulled up next to him at the next light and put down the window and told him (as I smiled) “yeah but at least I can hold four more people” then he told me “well I fit four girls in last night”. And for some reason I believe him.

BM303i - ha ha! funny! It's kindof like that kia(?) ad with they lounge lizard, the girls, and the lamborgini. Somehow, less room in that case is apealing.
But, do be careful passing people at that speed. The cops in MD would do it all the time - I'd pull out of my driveway (onto 6-lane 35 MPH road). The cops would come over the hill at top speed and be on top of me in no time. Even when I did see them at the hill, normal estimating would say that anyone going < 50 shouldn't get close to me. Obviously, they were going faster. The problem sucked so much, I had to pull one over (true story!) going at least 80.
Thanks for making me laugh!

That was funny...
I played with a 911 carrera once, we were coming from New Orleans East to the City.
I held my own pretty good, I think mainly because he wasn't pushing his car to its potential.

don't let him get to you man, you'll only sink to his level. Now I raced a couple of IS300's myself, and they were all modded, and I've never lost. The closest I came to losing is we were just even all the way. Remember, my 330 was stock, and their IS's were modded (intake, exhaust at least).
This message is for that poor bastard that drive the IS300. Just because you can't afford a BMW, don't bash us 330's boys. That peice of shit toyota stand no chance with the 330. Bring that car down anytime, and I'll beat your ass like a red headed stepchild. Keep your nose out our our site, stay and race your shit jap cars !!!

haha, I hear where you're coming from. Most of the people at Is300.net are just former ricers trying to have the one-up on losing all the time. And dont' worry, I will. You too by the way.
Funny, before I bought my 330ci, I test drove both the IS/GS300s. The IS has great lines, I give it that. However, it really fails to compare to the 330 in terms of performance and handling. While driving the IS, the sales guy kept telling me how 'sick' and how fast this car was. I really wasn't impressed. It felt just as sluggish as the GS300, but much more crampted inside. As soon as I drove the 330 off the lot, I knew it was the car for me. Much more responsive in terms of throttle and handling. No brainer for me!

Just on my way to work one morning during rush hour traffic. I always like to take my time in the morning and just let the engine warmed up until I start it to drive the car hard. Looking back on my rear view mirror and saw this yellow new 2003 mazda 6 approaching me fast. He flys past me, and I did see that he still has the dealer tags on the car. I kind of itching and want to hit the gas to catch him , but I said no, not a mazda. Until this punk decide to slow down to wait for me to catch up, and he started to thump his throttle. Then it was on, I floored the 330I, past him doing 110, and never look back again. Next was the on ramp going on to the express way, where this time I waited for him. Seeing him behind me I thump it agian, leaving him far behind again. Finally, I think his peice of shit, know not to do this with a bimmer again.

wow, this thread is a blast from the past.
btw, i had a chance to experience the 330i loaded down with 4 adults, child seat, stroller, groceries and climbing an uphill onramp to a freeway.
the sound of the engine racing was music to my ears, but boy did i feel like i was driving a 325i. /forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I'm always surprised when people bring this thread back up...i've had a couple more kills since this thread got buried a while ago.....
but just recently i tangoed with a 350Z after he and I both layed a wastin on 5 rice rockets, all with unpainted body kits. Then we decided to run each other, either it was automatic or it just has horrible top end for the power it has but no one pulled on anyone (freeway 2:00am). Actually, maybe it had something to do with i was like right behind him(started and stayed at a car length) so maybe I was drafting off of him ike they do in those left hand races (NASCAR).

Funny, I just met a 350ZX, too. I was at a light just before (straight ahead) the entrance ramp to the highway... the light turns green and this idiot new 350zx runs the red light, making a right turn in front of me. I can't stand red light runners, and I probably don't deal with it in a constructive way, so I didn't cut her any slack. Immediately I'm on her butt and I follow her onto the ramp. She went a decent speed - I had no trouble keeping up - but I doubt she gave it her all. She should have, though. I passed her on the highway... she seemed totally unaware of her surroundings - both me and the red light... Oh well, believe it or not, over all, I'd rate Washington DC drivers better than NC drivers.
I was doing about 80 and this 96ish 5 series comes out of no where and cuts me off. I floored it and picked a better lane than him and managed to get in front of him. We did this for about 1/2 mile and then he just floored it and left me in the dust. When I caught up to him I waved over so he could roll down his window. I asked what mods he had. He said it was an M5 "stock". Doh /forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
