How important is it to strictly adhere to the 4500 limit on RPM during the first 1200 miles?

I firmly believe in break-in periods.
If they say keep it under 4500 rpm, then I would do so. The car isn't going to come apart if you surpass that engine speed, but it will pay off in the long run.
The break-in helps everything in the powertrain adjust and get settled in. Brakes, engine, transmission, and drivelines all will live longer if you take care of them in the beginning.
