View Full Version : painting side moldings, should I?

Im thinking of painting my rubber side moulings that run around the car all the same color of my car steel metallic blue...anyoen think I shouldnt? should I take it to the dealer to have it done? and anyone have an idea at what $$$ i mlooking at?

I looked into having my mouldings painted by my body shop. The techs all know me and said they would do mine for the cost of the paint only. Maybe $50.

However, he also said that he can't imagine that the paint would look nearly as good or stick. Removing the side mouldings might warp them, and then wet sanding them to remove the texture could cause irregularities. He offered to give it a try though, so we will see...

Go ahead, I'm getting my 330i's side moldings painted, but it's going to cost more than $50. My friend got his 323i's moldings painted, and it looks way better, and there are no complications. Don't take your car to the dealer, they're gonna rip you off.

Why wouldn't AC or Zender make these trim pieces available? It seems relatively easy to get set up-something that any injection molding company could make.
